L & R Chosen Ones

Ok, so faulty optimistic me, says that L & R should chose my web site for a good reason. And that reason is that the website is all about THEM!! What use am I gonna get from it? They can have it. Free of charge :)

Now, the next matter of business, is who's website they SHOULD chose. Personally, I would chose a combination of Dillion's and Valerie's. I really liked Dillion's layout and professional affect. But at the same time Valerie's pictures/information/links were all very nice. Very helpful. Elaborate. So yeah, that's what I would do.

To spell check in dreamweaver you simply go up to "Text", click on it, go down to "Check spelling" and click that. DONE. Repeat for every page of website.

Now our next matter of business is my very own L & R Home Builders website. I'm not done :( I have like 8 pages and only 5 of them are anywhere near completion. Buuuuuttttt, Mrs. Stalnaker wants us to write about it anyway so here goes:
Like about MY site:
-green
-yellow
-uuuhhhhh.....
What I would do differently:
-make animated things. Like moving lines, bursting pictures, etc
-DONE

Grade TODAY

If I were to give myself a grade on my WEBSITE I would personally give me a B or even a C. It's boring. I don't really like it. But it's supposed to be professional and i am putting all the info on it. So, yea, a B.

L & R Home Builders

Um, well, I haven't had as much time to work on it as I would like, I don't have much done yet. But from what I have done I would have to say that I'm honestly completely lost. With the whole construction thing. It's just not really my thing. I can't really grip exactly WHAT I need to do still. I have succeeded at creating a background color. I have also created one button. But I have failed at using photoshop for anything else :( ANYTHING. End of story

VRC

Ok, so the latest news in Dreamweaver is learning how to create a webpage using a template. It's pretty simple. A little confusing AT TIMES. But not near as bad as it could be. As for creating a VRC site, it's alright. I'm glad we finally get to make something just like "BAM!! DO IT!" (but not cruelly though, just kinda like, awesomely). I didn't use a template. I started from scratch. Just 'cause I'm THAT good. Haha, just kidding. I don't really know why. I just did.
What kind of web site would I like to create? I would like to make a web site on whatever I want. No guidelines. Or, like, a service of your own. Then at least you'd have a topic to limit it a little. But even then, I know I could have some fun with that

Presenting

So I did my presentation of my resamay. I thought I did pretty good. I tried to be calm, still be me, present my webpage, try not to be one of those people who think they're all that and a bag of a potato chips when they're really not even worth the grease in the bottom of the bag. I wasn't going to pretend to be right when I was wrong. I have to admit I'm peeved that I got an 87% on it though. Mrs. Stalnaker docked me points because I put "3rd" instead of "Third" in THIRD ward elementary. I don't recall that being bad. ??? *sigh* Another time I recall saying "This is my TABLE. It's borderless so you can't really tell" and people STILL gave me a zero on that cuz they claimed I didn't have one. Foy... people people people. And I didn't know it was a resamay to be a WEB ASSISTANT. Cuz then I would've made it gray, dull, boring (professional). And I would've talked in a monotonuos tone and never smiled nor laughed. I would've acted like a boring stick. I thought it was just a normal resamay for anything. Say if the Old Brick were some sort of business, I bet they would've hired me. mhm

Weaver of Dreams

This week we learned how to use Dreamweaver. It is SO much easier than typing out HTML code. A few we learned were inserting tables, creating links, and making rollover images. Coolness. However, i don't really know how to explain that. So go ahead and dock points on a BLOG. I was pretty sure that blogs were personal opinions and a place for people to say whatever the heck they want to say without anyone critiquing them. If this is a better way to get to know me then don't kill my grade from me being me (which is what I thought u said you were doing by making us do these blogs). Anyway, I would like to do Dreamweaver rather than HTML code any day. Its faster, easier, simpler, did i mention faster and easier??

Creating a New Web Page

Creating your won web page from scratch is kinda difficult. You have to start on your very own, no book, nothing. But I did go back to the book to check a few of the codes. If you encounter problems, you have to fix them. You have to search for the problem, and change it or test it or whatever you may need to do to fix it. And if it still doesn't work, you just have to keep trying. It's a nice challenge. I like it. I just wish it could be more personal. To make it for whatever we want, whatever it would be about. No guide lines. But yea, it's still likeable

HTML TABLES. i have no smart comment about them. sorry

Html tables, like everything html has you starting out thinking "wtf?! I'm so lost! Who created this and where do they live?!" But it also gets easier with time. Just Like Everything Else (as previously stated). It's actually kinda simple when you think about it. You start off with your <.table> code. Inside of the < > as well you can put how wide you want your table to be "width="80%" "65%" "91%" whatever, and if you want it aligned center, left, or right. You also need to tell it how many columns your table will have simply by typing <.cols="4" "7" "18" etc. Also, tables have borders as well as pictures do. So you simply type "border="5" "1" whatever.

Next, for each row you start with <.TR> and press enter. Next, for each cell you start with <.TD>type whatever you want in the cell. And end it with <./TD> Press enter and repeat this for however many cells you have in a row. When you end a row, press enter and end it with <./TR> Then press enter twice and do it all again for each row that your little heart desires.

End the entire table with the last <.TR> "ENTER" and a <./table>

72, of all the numbers, 72

The number 72 is very important because that is the number of DPIs computers display. What is DPI? Dots Per Inch. Photoshop os important to web design? Wha? But yes, it is indeed, very important. Photoshop can help you shop photos. Haha, just kidding. Photoshop can be used to create buttons for web pages, and as we all know, those are very helpful. Thats about all we've learned on photoshop so far. On our webpages, we usually make a prototype. That way we can see what our webpage is going to look like, if it will work, and all these things that we can always go back and fix. Improve. Update. Etc. Because the most important element in a personal webpage is user ability. It must be simple and clear enough for the user to understand and not get lost, etc. But it must also capture their attention without distracting them from the purpose from the website. Its a very complex balance.

LINKS, not zelda, LINKS

Ok, so links are a bit tricky. There are quite a few such as links to different pages, links within the page from one section to another, links to different URL's, picture links, email links, and that's about all I can remember right now. There's probably a few more. Links can be created by <.A HREF="chosen URL">text to click on to go to link<./A> To do email links you have to <.A HREF="mailto:emailaddress@whatever.com">email address to go to email link <./A>
Images take some serious time my friend. But I guess with time and repetition, the skill will come. Anyway, to create images on a page you start by <.IMG SRC="filenameofpic" Border="chosen border" Height="chosen height" Width="chosen width" Align="left, center, or right"> Within the angle brackets you can also add horizontal or vertical space by putting VSPACE="chosen vertical space" or HSPACE="chosen horizontal space"
A few other codes are:
Bold text <.B.>text you want bolded<./B>
Italicized text <.I.>text you want italicized <./I.>
A break in the text <.BR.>
To change the font color <.FONT style="color:#6 digit color code;">text to be colored<./FONT.>
To make a paragraph <.P.>type paragraph<./P.>

*ignore the "." in the angle brackets. They're only there to keep the computer from reading it as actual HTML code

HTML coding. Is its difficult and why?

Html coding is difficult. It's just hard to remember all the < > things and all the different codes that mean different things. And if you make one typing error, it screws everything up! You could have the wrong color, no break in the text, no picture, no background, the wrong kind of list, the wrong part in bold, forgetting to end a paragraph, etc etc etc etc etc. THE LIST IS ENDLESS!!!!!!!! I don't really think there is an advantage to my person knowing this cursed code. lol. However, I think it would be awesome to create our own web page. Just give us a week or so and let us do JUST that and see what kind of web pages you get. You cold make it a dating service for nerds. Or a private detective for hire. Or a magical world where you invent a brand new culture, language, traditions, etc. I think that could get VERY interesting indeed...

Learning HTML code

It was hard. And I don't like it much. With the whole < > thing and the
I don't even remember what
does. I know that
gives you this long line. But
, hhmmmm.... Anyway, pretty much before every little thing you do you have to type < > AND when you're done with it you have to finish it Pah.

But I am getting the hang of it. Slowly but surely. I like the whole change color thing. I'm still not exactly sure how to do it, but that little personalizing factor is nice.
How it can be taught better? There's really not much more you can do. It's just kindof a learn as you do thing. That's about it

Harrassment

Have I ever been harassed? Yes, I have. But then again, who hasn't? Right? And yea, at some point and time I have probably harassed someone. However, in schools, i really don't think it's as big a deal as they are trying to make it. I don't even remember the last time I was harassed and I certainly don't recall harassing someone. If so it was on complete accident and I was probably just joking around (I dot that a lot). Kids just don't seem to care to harass anyone anymore, and that's a good thing.
Should it be punished? Yea. When it's present it should be treated almost as physical violence. Words can hurt and actions are even worse. It should involve talking with the parents to figure out why the student acts this way at school and if he or she does so at home also.
Yes, in my life I have witnessed harassment. Did I do anything? Well, to be honest, it depends on the person. SHOULD I have done something, yes, I should've. And so should everyone else who sees it. Just imagine if you were in the victims shoes....
